Community Partnerships

At Trailblazers, we believe that education thrives through authentic connection whether it be with nature, with community, or with each other. That’s why we’ve formed meaningful partnerships with local organizations that share our mission of hands-on, place-based learning rooted in curiosity and care.

These collaborations deepen our curriculum, offer access to expert-led workshops, and connect our students to real-world science, environmental stewardship, and civic action. We’re proud to be part of a growing community that’s reimagining what education can look like… local, joyful, and connected!

Montessori Forest Adventurers

Trailblazers is proud to partner with Montessori Forest Adventurers, a local nonprofit dedicated to getting kids outside to learn, play, and grow. Their forest-based programs reflect the same values we hold dear: hands-on exploration, mixed-age learning, community connection, and deep respect for the natural world.

We share a commitment to:

  • Child-led learning rooted in wonder and discovery

  • Mixed-age groups that encourage leadership and collaboration

  • Outdoor education that fosters resilience, creativity, and stewardship

  • Building community through joyful, inclusive experiences

We are especially grateful that Montessori Forest Adventurers has chosen to sponsor Trailblazers as a fiscal partner. Their generous support allows us to access grants and funding opportunities typically reserved for 501(c)(3) nonprofits, making our programs more sustainable and accessible to families in our community.

Arizona Project WET

Our collaboration with Arizona Project WET, a statewide initiative based at the University of Arizona’s Cooperative Extension, brings high-quality, inquiry-based water science education into our classrooms. APW’s mission aligns seamlessly with our own: to engage students in real-world science that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and environmental responsibility.

Our founder is a trained Arizona Project WET facilitator, bringing high-quality water science curriculum and facilitation techniques into our classrooms. This includes interactive lessons on watersheds, groundwater, conservation, and sustainability, rooted in the latest research and best practices in STEM education.

Meadowlark Art Studio

We’re honored to work with Erika Tsouras of Meadowlark Art Studio, a local artist and art educator with a passion for creative expression and nature-based inspiration. Erika brings over a decade of teaching experience and a deep belief that everyone can be an artist.

As the art teacher for our learning program, Erika helps students explore mixed media, emotion, and nature through hands-on art projects that celebrate self-expression.

Erika holds a Master’s Degree in Art Education from NAU and founded Meadowlark Art Studio in 2023 to share her love of teaching and creating with the Flagstaff community.
