Who are we?
Trailblazers is an in-person enrichment program for homeschoolers in downtown Flagstaff, meeting Thursdays. Families join a semester-long learning experience, giving students the chance to go deep into a project, build real friendships, and grow as part of a consistent community.
Rooted in our mountain town, we bring science, literature, art, writing, and local culture to life through hands-on, project-based exploration. Students study Flagstaff's unique ecosystems, meet guest speakers who bring real-world expertise into the classroom, and learn to think deeply, collaborate creatively, and grow with confidence, both as learners and as members of their community.
Learn by Doing
Whether designing science experiments, writing original stories, or building creative projects, our students learn through experience. Hands-on exploration of Flagstaff's environment and partnerships with local experts turn classroom ideas into real practice in collaboration, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
Our Academic Approach
Science comes alive through STEM challenges rooted in real-world questions. Literature is explored through lively discussion that builds empathy and critical thinking. Creative writing and art spark imagination and self-expression, culminating each semester in our student-published Spark Magazine and a rotating student art gallery.
A Community That Grows Together
Community at Trailblazers grows through shared experience: collaborating on projects, connecting with guest speakers who bring Flagstaff's stories and science to life, and simply spending unhurried time together. Our days include intentional time for outdoor play and creative collaboration across age groups, and we extend learning beyond the classroom through local field trips and Friday outdoor adventures. Together, we're building a community rooted in curiosity, respect, and a shared love of learning.
