Community Connections

At Trailblazers, we believe learning grows best when it’s nurtured by connection to people, to place, and to the organizations that strengthen our community.

Montessori Forest Adventurers

Trailblazers is proud to partner with Montessori Forest Adventurers, a local nonprofit dedicated to getting kids outside to learn, play, and grow. Their forest-based programs reflect the same values we hold dear: hands-on exploration, mixed-age learning, community connection, and deep respect for the natural world.

We share a commitment to:

  • Child-led learning rooted in wonder and discovery

  • Mixed-age groups that encourage leadership and collaboration

  • Outdoor education that fosters resilience, creativity, and stewardship

  • Building community through joyful, inclusive experiences

We are especially grateful that Montessori Forest Adventurers has chosen to sponsor Trailblazers as a fiscal partner. Their generous support allows us to access grants and funding opportunities typically reserved for 501(c)(3) nonprofits, making our programs more sustainable and accessible to families in our community. As part of this partnership, our Scouts attend Forest Fridays at no additional cost, giving them the chance to deepen their connection to nature and enjoy a full day of forest-based learning and play.

Our Learning Circle

We’re fortunate to be surrounded by a vibrant mix of organizations, educators, and creators who inspire our students, share their expertise, and provide resources that enrich our programs.

Arizona Project WET

Hands-on water science that gets kids thinking like scientists. As a trained Project WET facilitator, Miss Jada brings their engaging activities and resources into our classrooms, helping students understand Arizona’s most precious resource and see themselves as stewards of it.

Azulita Project

A source of resources and inspiration for environmental stewardship. Azulita’s work last semester sparked student-led ideas for protecting our planet and reducing waste.

Flagstaff Public Library

Just a short walk from Trailblazers, the downtown library is our favorite after-class hangout. Librarians help our kids find new books, some students hop on the computers, and others relax in the teen zone. Last semester, they proudly displayed our Eco Hero flyers, supporting our students’ environmental advocacy.

Einstein Tutoring

Our go-to local tutoring company, known for having the best math tutors around. Einstein helps students build skills, boost confidence, and tackle challenging concepts with ease.

Oak Creek Watershed Council

Champions for clean, healthy waterways, Oak Creek Watershed Council hosted a field trip for our students on Oak Creek. They help kids see the real-world impact of conservation and inspire them to protect our local environment.

Mountain Boogie

Cool, creative, and community-minded, Mountain Boogie offers engaging music lessons, group classes, and a rock band program that gets kids playing together and loving music.

Meadowlark Art Studio

Last semester, Meadowlark hosted a special series of homeschool art classes for our students in her studio. Now, Miss Erika brings that same creativity and joy to Trailblazers as our art teacher, inspiring kids to explore, create, and express themselves.

Stargazer Collaborative Theatre

Located right down the hallway, Stargazer welcomed our students into their studio for a lively drama workshop filled with fun theater games. It was a playful, confidence-building experience that gave kids a taste of the performing arts.
